Aug. 19 Tues. Trudy

and I walked up to Mae's this evening and sat on the steps with Mae and John and heard all about their trip up to Will's cottage. We walked all the way home too. Aug. 23 Sat. Have spent most of the week in the office very busy - and at home evening - Today was simply gorgeous. Mother, Trudy
& I went up to Fairport on the roof of the "Jessie" (by canal) and it certainly was a delightful trip. The clouds were simply fine - And it was just about warm - and cool enough - Passed the Bussey Hotel remains in Brighton - It was burned last night and went thro' 5 locks, as usual - The sunset was simply magnificent - and for half-an-hour 'way off in the East was a big fragment of rainbow in a distant shower. We had a very hearty supper at the "cottage Hotel" after a "bath" - much needed on acct. of the "Jessie" smoke stack. Had time for a short stroll before the train went at 8 o'clock. It rained there then - but not in Rochester when we arrived - sleepy. Aug. 24 Sun. Another lovely day. Con came around about half past ten and took us up to the river and out in the "After Me"
