Jan. 10 Sun.
Went up to Cro'nest this morning
for some things Char wanted. It was
warm & cozy and everything in apple-pie order. In the afternoon
I took a long walk. First to Mary
Mosher's (but she wasn't home) Then to Con
& Edith's. They were just finishing dinner and made me stay
for French coffee and cigarettes. I asked E. to copy off some
verses she wrote when the plumbing
froze! Later I went up to Chattie's and had
supper. Helen was over to Frank's
and when my car didn't come I
stopped over for her. They seem very happy & comfy.
Helen certainly isn't well and Chat
worries about her a lot. Want her to go to Castile
&c. Chat and I had a nice
visit
Helen invited me to
"St. Helena" again next summer.
Jan 11. Mon.Papa read aloud from "Emmy Lou"
tonight, while Motherand I worked.
Claude
and Jim went to the Kneisel
Quartet.
Jan 12. Tues.
Stormy - Chat came up to supper
and we went to "The Wizard of Oz" It was very funny but grew
tiresome, it was so long. Besides, I was scared of fire - as every
seat was taken. The lion, the scarecrow and the cow
(Imogene)
