up and wrote rhymes more and then like "There once was a blushing young bride, Who cookery never had tried. But the gas-stove she'd light With a smile calm and bright, For her husband was zinc-lined inside". and "There once was a husband who said He never had cooked till he wed. But he made mashed potatoe Which his relation ate - O And the following day they were dead"! and others. Then we had music - Shubert - lovely! - in the twilight - and the men smoked and we talked and the Bride and Groom looked into each others eyes and were happy. We came home after dark and donned wrappers (we had been so dressed up!) And wrote and listened to the Hartigan's piano and so on. Mon. Nov. 23. Very dark day. About the darkest, at midday - I ever saw. Almost needed lights for lunch in our dining room and did use them all day in the office.
