that J.G. was elected! The Union got out an extra and I had some fun with a newsboy who threw away his Johnston badge and took my Cutler button while the Davises, Mr. Wetmore & some clerks and ex-Mayor Carnahan looked on in delight - I 'phoned John
when I got home - and Claude. It was his wedding day and he and Char took a long and lovely drive with "Meccy". Nov. 4 Wed. Still fine. The air full of congratulations. Mr. Barber of "Atkins" phoned me - with all came in and paid his bet (75¢) Mary came in & invited me to Jno. Drew & to pay hers &c.&c. Went to the library and spent most of the evening reading "Century". Nov. 5 Thurs Rain today - and plenty of it. I took C.F.B's picture in the office and he had to hold still 45 seconds! Tonight we had the "Perfects" at Lura's. I went all thro' the new Masonic Temple first - we had a very nice time at the Club. Dolly
got the prize again and Helen the booby - a tin horn with "Toot-toot" (J.G.'s watchward - according to the Union) on the ribbon. The most fun was initiating Catherine Crichton at supper (Mabel's stunt.)
