1903.
Sun. May 24 Cloudy & rather cold and windy - went down to the Lake, to Mae Stull's this morning and they made me stay all day - to dinner and supper. No one was there but Mae & John, Billy Degraff & Marion Barbour - (a nice little girl) We walked up to the apple orchard bluff in the afternoon and sat in the sun and let the wind blow straight in from the Lake on us. It was delicious. When in the house (& not eating) we sat beside the open fire. John's father is very sick. Mr. D. went to the car with me. Tues. May 26. Circus today. 20 lovely elephants went past. Lura "entertained" Hamilton! (see page 146) "The wife" and a hard cold. May 29-May 30 Sat. Decoration Day. Was sick all day - in bed all the morning, mending in the p.m. and dressed at & 7 p.m. and met Lura & Laura Hutchinson & went with them to see the new Lyceum Co. in "The Lottery of Love". It was very good indeed - funny & well played. Kept feeling better right along - and as May 31 Sun. Sunday was fine & Hamilton came for me, we rode out to Maplewood and sat on the sunny, breezy hill while he smoked. It was one of the clearest days I ever saw - & fair a breezy. When we came down, instead of turning
