5/29 "The Wife".
May 18 Monday I sent Edith a bunch of carnations today - or "Oswald" did. Unfortunately, Hamilton had some on too, & Frank. For all the Davis's including Lillian Mackey, Frank's new fiance, were at the "Perfects" at Mary's. E. glared at the other flowers & said nothing E.S. wasn't there - I didn't enjoy myself particularly. Frank and Lillian were very cute & sweet together. It was a warm night. May 19 Tues. Mary telephoned me this afternoon and in the evening she and Nellie and I went to see Mrs. Patrick Campbell in "The Joy of Living". It was simply fine! She is very beautiful woman - And the play was fine but rather awful, too. #May 29 Friday Was just about sick-abed tonight, but had accepted Mabel's invitation, so went with her and Florence
and Edith Scott to see the Cook stock company and Jessie Bonesteel in "The Wife". It was only the 4th time I've seen it, and I can't say I enjoyed the very bad company, but I had quite an interesting conversation with Edith Scott (Oswaldian &c.!) Rode my wheel. #May 23 Sat. Had a "golf picnic" today, but Grace Bingham couldn't come. Zaza and I played till dark did I was pretty tired when I got thro' - & Sunday
