Aug 2. Thurs.
A beautiful, clear, cool, perfect day, when one feel like doing
almost anything. I went with Miss Fichtner and
Miss Shelton
after breakfast, down to their washwoman’s,
Mrs. Folgers and to "Bloomingdale" the golf club
houseand through it. Coming away we met a black carriage with
Faversham in it – a big fellow in gray.
Mr. David Lennox Walsh told us who it was when we got back –
found Mary had gone to the beach –
and by invitation went with Mrs. & Miss Wagner
and Mr. Walsh
“Kodaking” till eleven – both Mr.
W. and Mrs. Wagner took our pictures
occasionally. At eleven I went down to the tent & found the girl
and Miss Waring -
Mr. Walsh came with me. Finally we all got ready and
went in. The beach was brilliant with people and made quite a
picture. We saw young “John Stevenson of Sharon–Pa” who
interviewed us yesterday afternoon. The surf was lovely but the under
tow was bad – so we just let the breakers roll us about on the beach
a good while and took a long sun- bath before coming in. I was
weighed
1900.
