Aug. 18. Sun.
This morning I went down to the office and “helped” on Claude's plans. Con
came down and told us funny stories about the
Actorine
. Afterward we went up to Mosier’s house and thro’ that – It’s so pretty. In the
afternoon just as I was about to pack, Martha
Rathjen Siemer came up and made a long call – one of
her babies – the boy – died a few weeks ago – After she had gone
Edith came and then Nellie Mac - to borrow books and I packed
while Edith was there and she staid
to supper. In the evening I rode over to Charlotte's to say goodbye – she had her hair in braids
and looked like Marguerite dear Chattie.
Aug 19 Mon
A cool morning I did an errand or so and talked to Claude and Mother went to the station with me. Martha had brought the baby over and
Nellie and Alice
and Edith were there – also
Mary. We had a reasonably cool
ride and a fast one – only stopping at Syracuse
and Watertown where Gertrude joined us. We had lunch out of our own
lunch boxes and it was good, too.
