wanted me to go down to the lake & row up the late river, but I couldn’t be lured out of Rochester so soon again & took a nap instead! Made prints Monday night. Read new Scribner’s

last night and tonight had a call from Edith & then took the car around & called on Chat – a lot of people were there but we sat in the sitting room alone & had a nice visit. I showed her my pictures and she walked to the car with me (& Mr. Davis too) & I rode right around to Hubbell Park – the way the cars go now – sat up late writing & talking & about midnight Claude & Mother & I had phosphate. She’d been making a shirt waist box and Claude seeing Charella who goes to N.Y. in the morning, to sail for Europe with the boys & Miss Howard – on Saturday. Aug. 8. Tues. Lovely day – I’ve been out seeing the bicycle parade in connection with the street fair. They have parades and things every day. Last night Con & Claude went up in the captive balloon there & Con has promised to take me up in it. He took me to lunch today. Dr. & Edith Andrews were down, but I didn’t

see them. A week ago Saturday I went to the matinee “Taming of the Shrew” by the Lyceum Co. and Tuesday night to Mr. Dean's benefit “A coat of many colors” &
