Feb. 26th Sunday
I have been home – mostly – since I wrote last – can’t bear to go
where people insist on talking of Helen – It makes me feel so – and twice I’ve had to have a
regular cry when I’ve been with Edith. Poor Will –
Con
saw him Washington’s birthday at the
Falls & he is very lonely.
Con and I went up to
Elwood's to dinner a week or so ago, and last
night we went to call & had a lovely time – They are nice people.
&
Mr. Ellwood has so many good stories. Met Harvey, coming home – the old josher!
(21st)
Last Tuesday we went to see Ormonde
in “Capt. Letterblair” – very good – I sat with
Chattie & had a nice visit with
her – she has begun work at the Post Office (the 15th) at $50 a
month but doesn’t want to stay. Mary is very cheerful now and she seems fond of me when
I see her – which isn’t as often as it used to be – I was there last
Sunday. I have had such dear letters about Ned – from Mrs. Nourse
&
Lilla – Mr.
Dymond – Hilda –
Maude –
Trudy – Julia
Nichols – Mrs. Graham &c &c
The Dickersons sent me Weir Mitchell's
last book for a Valentine.
1899.
