Aug. 11. Friday. This is a big day — because — I’ve been “up in a Baloon boys” — ! Con, Claude and I tore out to the street fair ground before supper and each soared heavenward. It was fine - a “live map” of Rochester and vicinity – a hazy horizon and dots of people and things below. Nothing under nor around or be only your own self in a little basket and an invisible rope below! It was really fine! The worst thrill I had was when Claude was in the basket and the break slipped and let him out zipping by mistake! But they caught it in time! We all enjoyed it – and “jollied the man” between times and came home late, hot and hungry. Con was up this evening too, and Edith and I went down to Mary's for a few minutes and expressed our scorn because she went to see the

woman eat snakes! On Wednesday night Claude & Edith & Con & I went to the fair and spent the evening – saw “Millie Christine the double-woman! the midway. The sick monkey with Con’s nurse–landlady looking at it (Con muttered something about her wanting to put a hot plate on its stomach!) – The various “barkers” – The
