Claude says Grierson
wrote all Sandow, the strong man’s book – and tells a funny
story about how he once received a “Rush” telegram from him, with a
paid answer, asking the translation of a bit of Latin in it!
Nov. 26 Sat.
What a contrast! A week ago it was so be- autiful(!) I had to have
Dick
tinker up
Diana to ride again – and did ride till
yesterday – and tonight there’s a regular blizzard and actually sleighing on the Avenue
20th
this afternoon! Last Sunday Helen
& Lura came over & Helen staid to supper & Con was here – Mary was up all the morning, too, Helped me wipe
22nd
dishes etc. Tuesday I went to “Gym” in the rain and Helen told me more about the girl
Murray Crosby is engaged to. She
“announced” it to us at the
name is “Smith”. Wednesday night Con
took me “out to paint” as he calls it. First we went into
Garson’s to see the news- boys eating their
Thanksgiving dinner. Then to the Musee, where we sat behind Frank,
Helen, Chat, Mrs. Baker &
Lura & saw “human snakes” and
various “acts” – funny & otherwise but, as usual, Con’s remarks were funniest.
1898.
