summer house. Mr. Reynolds was industrious with his typewriter under a tree! Miss Dike studying Italian nearby and everybody busy. The afternoon was a lazy one, too reading “Harvey Richmond” and writing letters and having a nice chat with Miss Dike (just returned from “shopping”) Miss Estwick & “Willie
”. The sunset was gorgeous – the stage got in early – I got four letters and the "surledge"
had balsam in it – so it was a successful evening – especially as a young moon set directly opposite us, and I enjoyed a long visit in the middle sitting room, with Miss Dike, whom I like very much. We really stayed up late tonight – in the office talking to Herbert
& “Willie
” till 10:30 p.m! Got a nice letter from Claude in N.Y. July 14 Friday A beautiful clear – blue and white morn- ing – Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds had told as great stories of “embracing” dancing bears in the village last night – which were coming here this morning – and they did - immediately after breakfast and all the boarders and family and friends and neighbors came and looked on which they danced and turned somersaults etc. Then they had
