Jan. 20 Sunday A lovely misty day. Mary& I walked way over to Chat's (tho' Claude & I had been there Friday night) and stayed most of the afternoon talking to her & Helen & Frank. Rilla Pearson – their former cook who forged Mrs. Davis name & has been in a jail a month or so, was there a little while – at dusk we walked down to Lura’s and had supper with her & Degraff who invited us to an Italian dinner in New York – as Mary was talking of going & wanted me to go with her. We walked home too - Edith had just been to Lura’s, but had gone. Jan. 24. Wed. The anniversary of my Ned's baby’s birth – I went down to Edith’s a little while in the evening. Borrowed Hugh Wynne” having just finished Janice Meredith.” Like them both, much. Jan. 25 Thurs. Mary had the girls to play Pedro tonight. Same old crowd. I wore my new gray skirt, gray silk waist and a bunch of violets and felt good - Lura dear said she “was proud of me”! Afterward I got quite proud myself
