come in on the long distance race – Con is taken sick with the measles at
Ogunquit
on his way home from his vacation! I have had a nice visit with
Mrs. Dumble
& Mr. & Mrs. Alexander (she is there) &

saw her again today. Last Saturday went down to Charlotte “in swimming” with
Claude. It was fine. Afterwards we had
a nice dinner at the Ontario.

Our President died Saturday morning very early. DSeptember 14th and great was the mourning –
and is still. It was very tragic for he was reported out of danger
the day – two days – before and
V. Pres Roosevelt had gone up into the
Adirondacks – and had a thrilling ride back to
North Creek – in the night - 30 odd miles thro’
that wilderness!
Mother was taken sick with
sciatica
about that time and was upstairs nearly a week. I staid home
and
