This week Wednesday noon to this noon has been the Cat
Show. Zo and Zen
went of course, and Zenda got a
first Prize! A blue ribbon and 4 dollars (she insisted on
going one to Zo ) Zo got a
“H.C.” ribbon (highly commended) as before. He was in a class
with 6 or 8 big fellows. He got loads of
admiration and I never saw him look prettier.
Con took the boarding house cat “Mike”
which he re-named “Oom Paul” and got an “H.C.”! Elsie Caring's Maltese, “Jack” got a first
prize and two specials, and Miss Frank's black Kitten
from the Orphan Asylum (“Topsy”
or “Pan-Annie”) got a first and two specials. It was very cunning. The Exhibit was fine – Mr.
Dubec’s animal circus was there with the funniest ape I
ever saw in my life. I had a long and interesting talk with him last
night – about training cats &c. &c. He has one that walks a
rope, stepping over a dozen white mice! But the other day some of the
mice got out when she wasn’t performing and she killed them!
