Jan. 14 Sunday. These last two weeks have passed very quietly. Very busy at the office – getting the Department of Public Safety nicely going. Writing “orders” and things early and late and evenings mostly spent in my cozy red wrapper – reading – I’ve read Sentimental Tommy” over – a dear book - and “In Ghostly Japan” and now I’m reading “The Widow Lampert” which Hilda gave me – I have a dear of a letter from Hilda – by the way. Have had a pretty gray skirt made.

Last Sunday tho’ it rained in the afternoon – I went up to Charella’s & had a nice visit with her – and staid to tea. Then walked down to Lura’s – where Edith &Mary were (They expected me to supper) and spent an hour or so & walked home with Mary. She & Emma have began taking piano lessons of May Rogers. Helen Davis has been taking some time & Lura claims she’s going to begin.Edith is studying shorthand and I only seem to be the one who is “Aimless.” Had a letter from Matie – one from Mart” & a number of others, Con among them.
