big light house. Reached home soon after seven, having accomplished 18 miles, and Lady very little fagged. After supper and a letter from Mother and one to her, played “Heart - Spades” with the girls and the Wagner’s till 9:30 or so. Had a long chat with Joe Husband yesterday and again this morning. He is a bright little fellow and quite worth while talking to. Mr. D. L. Walsh talks “theatrics” continually. Aug 3. Friday Another pleasant day – I awoke Mary at 4:30 this morning to help me see the sunrise. Then we went to bed again. After breakfast sat and talked awhile with Laura Wagner and then took a walk about the village & joined Mary under the tent. The sun was very bright but we enjoyed our books. I am re-reading “The Light that Failed”. We had a good bath as the breakers were very high and Miss Arnold says, she never has been in when the waves were as big or the undertow as strong. Got my hair soaking and took a long sun–bath.
