Sunday Claude and I went to Charella’s to dinner. Schumacher was there. He goes back to Paris immediately

after New Year's. Christmas Eve we had our “pie” – a big one – Con was with us & it lasted a long time and was very nice. As usual the dear Mother was very generous – and so was the dear boy - & all the rest. Zenda gave Zozo a nice box of catnip. After the pie we had nuts and cider and I didn’t get to bed till after midnight very tired indeed, as I’d been dis- tributing Xmas things all the afternoon, and made a call at Mae Stull’s and the Davises.

Christmas evening I read and made prints of Edward Bellamy’s foreign negatives, and Con came to turkey dinner & to spend must of the afternoon. Theo and Meta were over a little while, too. In the evening Claude went to “Cousin Susie’s” and Papa staid home (he’d been to Ellwoods late in the
