[(9th)] Last Tuesday Claude and I
went to five o’clock tea with Miss
Scott at the Roby house – She has a
pretty “den” & is an interesting girl – Has been to
Ogunquit &c. &c. I have Helen’s dear Opal mounted with Diamonds
with “dear Boy’s
Christmas check and marked inside “N.E.D” and “C.F.B” – it is an opal has 13 diamonds
& I began wearing it on Friday (Jan 5th) (got it at
Ettenheimer's – Mr. Miller-
the day before) so it must be either lucky or unlucky. Edith has been spending the evening with
me tonight and we’ve been talking over old times when dear Ned was with us. I have met old
Frank
once or twice I don’t see him so often as I used to but
he doesn’t seem to change a bit — in himself –
at least. The same interested, affectionate friend he used to be.
Some way I feel as old – as old – tonight perhaps because I’ve been
reading one of my silly old journals – ten years ago which sound so
young - but is this all improvement? –
well, hardly!
