in another all went over to Gananoque and took
the 7:30 boat - the America to Clayton on a
moonlight excursion. The river was actually like glass - I never saw it so
smooth - and the moon was perfect. We enjoyed it immensely - stopped
about an hour in Clayton and loafed around
and then came home in the lovely moonlight again. We played a
rhyming game
and had quite a jolly time. Each in turn recited a line beginning
“I saw” (the crows among the corn) "and the next time they must
rhyme it & beginning “I heard” (the hunter blow his horn) then
“I smelt” (the violets in the morn) “I tasted” (apple pie with scorn)
“I felt” (forshaken and forlorn) That was mine - It is a rhyme of
the senses. We rowed home in the perfect moonlight - arriving at the
dock at 11:35 precisely. Trudy and
I dipped our footseys in the water by the boat house before going to
bed
