Aug 2. Thurs. A beautiful, clear, cool, perfect day, when one feel like doing almost anything. I went with Miss Fichtner and Miss Shelton after breakfast, down to their washwoman’s, Mrs. Folgers and to "Bloomingdale" the golf club houseand through it. Coming away we met a black carriage with Faversham in it – a big fellow in gray. Mr. David Lennox Walsh told us who it was when we got back – found Mary had gone to the beach – and by invitation went with Mrs. & Miss Wagner and Mr. Walsh Kodaking” till eleven – both Mr. W. and Mrs. Wagner took our pictures occasionally. At eleven I went down to the tent & found the girl and Miss Waring - Mr. Walsh came with me. Finally we all got ready and went in. The beach was brilliant with people and made quite a picture. We saw young John Stevenson of Sharon–Pa” who interviewed us yesterday afternoon. The surf was lovely but the under tow was bad – so we just let the breakers roll us about on the beach a good while and took a long sun- bath before coming in. I was weighed
