While I was so beside myself – when Ned died – Miss Rathjen's N.Y. friend Joe Seymour, was here visiting her – and I guess there’s no doubt she is engaged to him – at least she takes every means to make me think so – and I do. Mrs. Crosby (Murray’s mother) is very sick at the hospital – I didn’t say that two Sundays ago I went over & got Edith & we went to Alice Kies & saw dear little Phyllis

Helen’s baby girl – who is a darling – Her little curly pink toes Ned kissed before she died – Poor little baby. I had a nice letter from WillChat said Will told her that my letter to little Phyllis
& Freddie's – were the only ones Ned had read to her & mine he should keep always he tho't it worthy of Eugene Field!!! He didn’t say anything to me about it – poor Will, I do pity him so – and the baby – but I've begun to be glad for dear Ned. Today Con has been here – he is a great deal lately. I’ve begun to make a “family” album.
