May 27 Sunday A lovely warmish day – went to the park this morning – then to church - and since have been reading – the last thing was a chapter of “Tommy & Grizel” – It's just sweet – the one where Tommy writes her a letter and Dr. David asks her to marry him. How does Mr. Barry

understand women so well? He must be a Tommy himself – I'm sure he is and divine things and that’s the reason he understands Tommy so well too - for Tommy understands himself. It’s perfectly charming. Oh! to write like that! Which reminds me that I’ve been looking over some of my old journals – and of all the inane things! Perhaps I'm like that – oh, I must be, I suppose, in a way – but there is so much of me that isn’t there - so many millions of thoughts which I have which I never breathe to a living soul (much less my journal!) and which shape my very life – All my philosophy of living – all the problems I have studied out one by one and the
