Oct. 17 Tuesday To go back to last Sunday (15th) it was a lovely gray windy day. Papa had gone to Oswego – or rather the Hill – and only Mama, Claude & I were home. Dear Mother didn’t feel well – her side ache – and loafed all day (that is – “loafed” – for her) and I did the dishes & dinner & got dinner &

(15th)
cleared it off – (beef steak & onions – good). Con came for me to ride – both morning and afternoon – but I didn’t – walked up to Mt. Hope with Mary in the morning. We saw Mrs. Erickson Perkins' tombstone that Claude designed – We saw thousands(!) of little chipmunks running about. The foliage was beautiful and there were fresh flowers on Ned’s grave. After dinner Edith came for me & we got Mary & went down to Windsor Beach. Walked along the beach & met Elsie & Ella
& Mr. & Mrs. Mort Joiner. Then went out on the pier and stayed an hour or so – listening to the breakers on the sand bar & talking and watching the lovely lake & sky. Home at dark
(16th)
Monday Mother was better (but not well) a lovely day. Bade goodbye to Lura who goes to N.Y. for the first time tomorrow.
