jolly time – tho' it was very impromptu. The girls say I'm getting
fat and Mabel’s offering to me was
“oh Cholly – boy – oh. Cholly – bub – You're growing like a
butter tub!” Chat gave me one on
“Olly” – the New Zealander which the girls thought was pretty good.
Chat took the first prize – a waste
basket of cardboard & wall paper (see illustration) and I the booby –
a jack-in-the-box – (see in Helen
D's hand on the table!) We had a Dutch supper and a
very jolly time.
Con Saturday p.m and came right up to
the office to see me and looked very brown and well and had had “The
time of his life”! I told him to come up to supper – which he did –
and to dinner Sunday – and he and Claude both told their “experiences” which were very
interesting. Saturday night Edith,
Beth Marsh and I went to see Julia
Marlowe in “Barbara Fritchie” – a very charming
play indeed – and a charming character
