and then over to the Beach, where we made a beautiful castle in the sand – with moat & battlements, pistons, “dijon” or keep”. &c. &c. A river - Nile - Camelot in the distance &c. &c. &c. all complete Burgess wrote: “This is the castle of Joyous Gard Where Lancelot & his royal pard Dwelt for years in joy & bliss. Lookin the moat where she threw a kiss”, and of course Harry W. saw to it that there was a kiss there! We had a fish supper on the piazza, while Arabian acro- bats performed for us. It was very nice. Burgess was great fun all the time he was here. We went up to Charella's

one night to dinner. Mr. Allen was there & jolly. Took off Major Burbank of Camp Otis, Mr.
Stein
& "Louis
" &c. &c. Last Sunday no, the 18th Con took me up the river about 5 o’clock, paddling - we went in a cedar canoe up Black Creek &c. Didn’t get back to the boat house till nine, when Con came home to supper with me. Went to see the Lyceum Co. in “Catherine” one night with Edith & Cad & this week (last night) in “School for Scandal."
