Feb. 6th Tuesday. A year ago today my dear Ned died – I’ve been thinking – thinking all day long —! I’m rather used up there last few days – Claude is getting ready to go off to N.Y. in the morning – with Harry Wilkinson Gellett Burgess and &c. &c. to the League Dinner. Last week we had a very nice time with Mrs. Dodson (Annie Irish) who was here with Mr. Dodson in “Because She Loved Him So.” Helen & I called on her Friday p.m. I saw the play Saturday — called with Claude to take them up to Davis's to dinner Sunday but Mr. Dodson was sick a bed with absesses under his arm – so they couldn’t go & I didn’t see him at all except on the stage. He sent a message to me & his pictures and with my name on and “from her sincerely JE Dodson I had “Annie's”. She was charming. I thought she was going to kiss us when we first saw her. She ordered Paterson,” her maid, to put on all her best clothes for us – “because she had friends in Rochester” – and they were lovely. She was perfectly
