& watched a big display of fireworks over at Charlotte - an ideal night for them it
was, too - so dark & still. We had a nice moonlight ride home –
after a chat with Harry Backus. He

girls & Dr. Pond & his family. This
week the streets have been gay with “Sir Knights” – Templars
who had a Convention here – They had a fine parade Tuesday &
ended by combining all the bands & making one big one – 400
strong - playing "Onward Christian Soldiers" all the
Standard bearers next and then all the Knights – It was
really fine.
