Then we went to Fitzhugh Hall and watched the Livingston Hotel bell boy and the “Dake’s girl” and little Miss Pugnose Setwick & others of the “Press Cycle Club” & their guests to dancing &c. then everybody lined up about a circle and amid great excitement we stood on chairs (we’d been longing to – & make pyramids – but there was no excuse) and watched Fred Zimbrich skate on rollers 5 miles with five different men & beat them – He was easy and very graceful and good looking the others were hot and awkward and thunderous. He had a purple velvet coat with white fur – white fur about his ankles & medals &c. His trainer had the fun that was left. The rest of the evening was spent watching the dancers & the “Grand March” - for a prize. Con pointed out “Harry Gibbs” – smiling down on us and blushing – and coming home divulged to me that it was he who had “watched me for years” coming up and down past his office – and approved – I
