awhile and then rode home alongside some companies of National Guard who were marching home from the driving park. I was very tired, but after a good supper walked down to the foot of Glasgow St. & sat with Mama awhile watching the very beautiful fireworks. Now am come home to finish the packing - still very warm & no rain. July 5. Wed. Another warm day. I took the 9:38 - Chicago Limited - for Albany - Mama came down with me. Con came to say goodbye and ap- peared again at the depot with a lovely bunch of pink sweet peas and a box of chocolates. Edith came down too. Had a pleasant ride to Albany a comfortable chair, Henry James' "In the Cage" a young Pennsylvania girl, Miss Camp, to talk to and a good dinner and a rest in the observation car. Gertrude was waiting for me at the Albany station and we spent the next hour seeing the capitol - Senate & Assembly Chambers, Court of Appeals and Governor's rooms - and changing our trunks. At Glens Falls Mr. Braley and little Frances met us - with the horse & carriage - and we were quite ready for Mrs. B's delicious supper. In the evening Trudy's friend Edith Goodman came stayed till eleven - and Mrs. Tice - both very nice.
