June 26. Mon.
Took our bootblack's picture today “by request”. He teaches me
Italian while he shines my shoes. Tonight I staid home and read a little
but sold my little Kodak to Flack.

Tuesday I went down to Mary (also “by request”) Although Con invited me to go to the lake & see the
Wild West show. Mary &
I rode down to Edith’s and spent
part of the evening on the piazza. Later Mary treated me to Phosphate!
28th.
Wednesday. It rained for a change (badly needed)
quite hard, too, for a little while in the evening. I made Xray prints of
Portage photographs.
29th.
Went to the theatre with Edith
tonight & saw the new leading lady, who is quite charming and
Ormonde as an undertaker! Afterwards they had a cake–walk
- quite funny.
30th.
Busy day – made out all of the 1st-of- month checks etc. Tonight
went over to Davis’sHelen is home again & we had a real
nice time. Charlotte served wine
& crackers & we planned to go to the theatre tomorrow night.
Mama came too (on a car) & we
July 1. Sat.
heard some of Kate’s letters,
&c. &c. This noon I got a letter from Chat saying she was going home with a sick headache. So we
didn’t go to the theatre Helen
wanted me to go to Glen Haven and
Edith & Mary to Sea Breeze
& Forest Lawn – but I didn’t. Staid home &
sewed &c. Con went off with a tally–ho
party from Behns
