see how Cada nice was (she’s sick) & talked with
Mary
on the steps awhile. (Now I'm
(25th)
writing with Papa’s fountain pen).
Today
Edith and I had an arranged to go to
Portage. I got up earlyish and put up lunch and
chased the cat about (tried to take his picture) and then started
from the
WNY & P. Station at 9:30. Going up - three couples – with
roses in their hair &c. - amused us – and Edith's “cousin
Mort” (Joiner) met us and took us
about – It was a lovely day (tho' cloudy when I took most of my pictures)
and we had a lovely time – crossed the high bridge and climbed down
millions of stairs and threaded a path a long long way along the
cliffs – gazing at beautiful “high banks" gorges and waterfalls,
meanwhile – when we got beyond “Glen Iris” we
sat down by the road- side and had lunch – with coffee from a
neighboring house afterwards we tried to get in the Council
House
& to see the grace of Mary Jamison
– but couldn’t on Sunday. Then we explored a beautiful
little glen and
