writing with Papa’s fountain pen). Today Edith and I had an arranged to go to Portage. I got up earlyish and put up lunch and chased the cat about (tried to take his picture) and then started from the WNY & P. Station at 9:30. Going up - three couples – with roses in their hair &c. - amused us – and Edith's “cousin Mort” (Joiner) met us and took us about – It was a lovely day (tho' cloudy when I took most of my pictures) and we had a lovely time – crossed the high bridge and climbed down millions of stairs and threaded a path a long long way along the cliffs – gazing at beautiful “high banks" gorges and waterfalls, meanwhile – when we got beyond Glen Iris” we sat down by the road- side and had lunch – with coffee from a neighboring house afterwards we tried to get in the Council House & to see the grace of Mary Jamison
but couldn’t on Sunday. Then we explored a beautiful little glen and
