Last night we went to see “Nathan Hale” & it was
fine! Maxine Elliott is a gorgeous beauty & her
sister Gertrude most charming. The play is fine too – all but
the frightful last scene, where they are about to hang him! The
audience was large & brilliant – all boxes full & I wore my
new spring hat! I am enjoying life nowdays – my way – but I find
it’s got to be a good deal of a task to put down the things I do.
There was a terrible accident in
(30)
the Bay Railroad Sunday – 2 killed & 60 wounded. Mrs. Behn is still quite sick.
May 17 WednesdayMrs. Behn better & went to
Niagara Falls with
Meta Monday – to stay all of May.
April Showers are beginning at last and tonight there is a lovely one and
it has been quite cool since Saturday
(14th)
night. Sunday morning I got up early and
went all to Maplewood to breakfast with Con. We started at 10 minutes of 7 &
the morning was gorgeous. We climbed up on top of the hill for the view
before our ham & eggs & strawberries & cream
