Lord of Chumley - 6/19
invited me down to dinner with her – at Windsor Beach. Edith went too – on the landlady’s invitation (She was there over last Sunday) and we staid to the fire-

works or some of them. Wednesday I went with Laura Hutchinson to the Lyceum to see “Squire of Dances” – and the week before with the Baker’s, Matie, &c to “Lord Chumley” – very well done. Last Saturday I went with Claude to Syracuse to visit the Wilkinsons, and they are lovely. It was pretty warm & we spent most of the time on the big piazza and in the big library – Mrs. W. , Fred, Charlotte & Katherine were the only ones home, tho’ they had expected Harry. Some cousins called

Saturday evening “Teddy” somebody & his married sister who is the wife of a Lieut. in the navy & has lived in Yokohama &c. They told about a half–Jap girl being educated here – who was reading “Prisoners of Zenda” in Japanese – “a lovely red– haired hero, she called him "in

Ruritana – Koko”! Sunday a Mr. & Mrs. Fowler – young Cornell lawyer & his wife were there to dinner– a charming couple – particular friends of Charlotte ’s.
