Saw a lot of antique mahogany & brass got a cute little copper–lustre pitcher for Mother & film for the Wagners &c.&c. and started home about five. Everything green & moist & sweet and no hard rain again till we got to the bad place in the road. Had a seven o’clock letters supper and some letters from Papa, Mama & Miss Gutman. Mr. Getty saw us off and saw us home – “Lady” behaved well, but was a little tired – shied once. This evening have been talking to Miss Wagner reading and writing. It rains outside. July 27. Friday. Cloudy morning and glorious afternoon. Cool all day. Mary & I took a walk thro’ the village & up the bluff this morning and then went down on the sand and watched the breakers with no one but Mr. Getty till bathing hour – or just before it – when his sister & Miss Napier came down to sketch. Was rather cold and didn’t feel first chop – so I took a brief bath. After dinner lay in
