Mama went down to supper with us.
(we arrived at 7:30 – car off the track &c) & Helen went back with her. She went to
Hornellsville with the Bakers
next day. After they had gone Emma
Lynch & I beat Mary
& Miss Michel
badly at Pedro. Friday I went down
early (4:30) finished my book on the way & talked to the
Lattimore's who are boarding at
“Penny’s” near the new
Country Club. Chat didn’t come
down (nor last night) & Helen
wasn’t there. It was cold. We lit up the hall & played
“Spade-Hearts” till nearly eleven. It's good fun –
May Rogers
was down, too. The next morning
Mary & I waked her up to say
goodbye to us. We have been up to the city every morning together on the
7:45 car, Edith going at 7:15 and
Chat at 8:15. The cottage
is in-
describable – all different levels piazzas, closets, stairs, and big rooms
It is owned by Miss Hopkins - A.
A's daughter.
You enter it (from the car) about the
3rd story up (on the other side) and there are 5 or 6 different levels
& 215 steps down to the bay.
