by the Erie station – 3 in thick and 15 ft long – tho’ the last time it was thin and snowy on top - like the icing on the black cake of the muddy water. Tonight Mama has gone to an Old Folks concert at our church. A week

ago Friday night she and I went to two very poor amateur plays at the Valentine Fair at the Eureka Club. Tues. Feb. 27. Mary, Alice & I went to the Lyceum tonight to see Mrs. Lemoyne in her new play – It was fine - and so beautifully played – staged and costumed. Tho Edeson's part was rather unattractive, he was very fine indeed – especially in the third act, where he is concealed & hears things talked about and has to let us know just what he’s thinking – by his expression. He’s a handsome boy – a friend of “Gillette’s”. Katherine Grey is dark and a "greyhound" with a low, rich voice - The idea of the play is that a mother’s love helps out anyone – and, anyway, Love is the greatest thing in the world – Walked Wed. Feb. 28. home with Claude. It began to snow about 6 o’clock this morning & was nice all day. Theo came home from Washington. Spent the evening reading Fiske's “Am. Revolution” Vol. II.
