Davis’s fondness for “Alice in Wonderland” &
he claimed responsibility for starting him at it. She’s in one of
his stories – I think I can guess who – in about the next visit with
her – she’s a dear – Harry is very
distingué and correct and all that. He is funny too – He has a funny
attitude of seeming to be laughing at himself and his foibles continually.
He dresses well and is thoroughly nice. We had a letter from
Con – Down off the coast of
Mexico – moonlight – lovely girls & “bully
ragged skylines” against red skies – and all that – Oh Con! I took this morning some “interiors”
of our house – not because they are particularly beautiful but
because I want to keep them – I think the shutter spoiled those in
my room.

Cold. Edith gave me a pretty
heart- shaped frame for a sort of a valentine - I put
her picture in & Mort's! Had
talks with Gilmore who is having hard
times with J.W. who attempts to “run
the business” while J.G. runs the
Department of Public Safety. It’s awful!!
