afternoon (15th) Aroix called up & invited me down to have coffee in Miner's office (“& the other young lady Mr. Miner says”) so we went & had a mighty jolly time. Aroix & I reminisced about Paris till I had to fly - To go Stull’s with Con. This evening before supper Mary & Edith & I have been shopping. I helped Mary select books for Matie. Helen & Ned, Edith & I went to hear the Russ Whytals in “Vagabondia" the other night – but it was rank so rank as to be funny, indeed. Mary's had another fit of the blues - poor girl – but is as nice as possible now. N. spent an hour telling me all about it the other night and I'm so sorry it as it is. Dec. 31. Saturday. Christmas has gone and so has 1898 – almost. The week before I shopped etc. all the week and Saturday pm. (24th) after J.G. had given me my book and told me I might go, I went up to Lura's with a load and then on up to Davis’s and we had a jolly time - like this summer wandering from room to room while they got ready & then loading up with packages and starting off to help distribute them - at place after place - Miss Farley’s, Lura's, Rev. Mr. Brown's, here &c. - &c. I was dead
