thinking it would interest him in view of his occasional "breaking off." I stayed till 12:30 (as usual on Saturday) and as it poured for a little while this a.m. I went to the Lyceum & got a ticket (front row of balcony) for this afternoon. Was cloudy but the sun came out after dinner Took a book and really enjoyed going alone. Saw Ned with Lilla & Miss Sharp. Terano was as smil- ing as usual (quite "flirtaceous") but I didn't like "Irene" so well. The McComber sisters danced again. Saw Frank Davis at Dake's - when I came out. Was standing in Sibley's when Belle Fairchild came along and we talked awhile (she's going up the Lakes in a day or two) and then I went with her - all over - shopping Ordered the two volumes of Emma Lazerus poems that Ned wanted - for her birthday. Went to Belle
's to "see the Garden" & she gave me some fresh lettuce. Got home
