took the car home. A nice open Summerville car. Saw a crowd at Cook's Opera House, waiting for
John L. Sullivan to come out. He played "The Man
from Boston" Gilmore went
& invited us (!) I got supper and Mama came home just as it was ready. Hurried up
afterward, changed my dress and met Ned at 7:15 to go and see Lilla. We found her & Laura still at supper (she had just arrived this p.m.) and
we staid until almost eleven! Talked Fair a good deal. I do so enjoy talking it
over with people who have been there. Lilla told us her funny experiences at Lewis-
ton - at the "Frontier House" where she
was taken for a "reporter" and made to give information about
Chicago. She also told us about a visit to
the convent of the Cloistered Nuns of the Order of the
Precious Blood in
Toronto, etc. etc. She is going to call
