train in Michigan - 40 or 50 killed & I
don't know how many injured - from DL & W way.
Elmira, etc. It was dark early to-night and I
walked home after six in real time dar
night. (for the first time) It sprinkled softly and by the time
supper was over it was a gentle but very wet warm summer rain - most
soothing & pleasant. I spent the evening writing - to Frederica - a notelet to my
Ned - and to Gertrude. I dream & walk now bed.

for the World's Fair.
McCormack & Emerich are both
here - meeting - one going to N.Y. & the other
to Chicago. Claude met
Fred Beach- just home &
sick. Read this eve.
Oct. 15. Sunday.
Cloudy day. Read "Phillip" in the dining room all
morning. Went down to S.S. but there was no class, so didn't stay.
After dinner Mama & I walked
over to Gordon's to make a call on
Mrs. G. & the babies. Constance
was quite sweet and Mama was
shown thro' the house and Gordon &
