didn't want to go very much, rowed over to
Miller's and had a drink of sulphur water &
bought some candy for them left behind and did some other trading
& read the "Hemlock & Conesus Laker" and looked at
flies - pike flies - and drank "lemon sauce and talked to a camper
who was there about corn to roast &c. The funniest little
non-descript wood stove, Post office (where people pick out their
own mail), &c combined & called "The Restaurant". The
road is lovely along there. It sprinkled again & I put on my
mackintosh & gave Mate the cape
& I had another drink of nice cold sulphur water & saw
Ed Cheney
& some other young
people gazing at us & finally we tore Mr.
W. away from the flies & came back. It was
perfectly calm again. We tried the "Echo" with very good results -
as we got ans- wers not only from "Echo" but from
Ned (on the Hill) & Baby (on the piazza). When we got in I
rowed Ned &
