A sweeping Republican Victory yesterday & Gilmore adorned with a yellow chrysanthemum & Mr. Cutler with smiles. Wrote to Ned. Had a sore throat & a fever & a headache & staid home mor this afternoon - most of it in bed. Read "Tanis" by Amelie Rives. Got up to supper & wrote to Papa & was more or less cross to the Family afterwards. Nov. 9. Thursday Better, but still uncomfortable. Monotonous day. Nothing happened. Nov. 10. Friday.

Harry Joiner & Ida Watts Engagement Announced.
Cold to-day but still pleasant. Unusual Nov. weather. Chief Bemis' funeral & the attending crowds were the "sights" to-day. Mrs. Andrews & Edith came this p.m. to stay a few days and I spent the evening talking to them and writing to Frederica & Gertrude. Nov. 11. Saturday. Almost sick with a cold. Busy. Edith(J.) came up to-night and walked up with me but not in. Spent the evening visiting with the Andrews etc. Nov. 12 Sunday. Pleasant & quite warm while the sun shone. Papa & Mama & Mrs. A. went to church and Claude & Edith & I stayed
