Fred Beach appeared this morning and I
had quite a visit with him. He's going to the Fair for a week. Then here again and then to
the Islands
for 3 weeks. J.G. went to the
lake about 12:30. I stayed
and talked to Gilmore
a little while (about an Irish girl!) Then
went to Carroll's & bought a new
black silk for a waist (shirt) and after lunch Mama & I took a picture of her desk.
After dishes sat by the window and read the Cosmopolitan
and then went out in the hammock & Mama began to look over berries when Ned & Edith came. They sat in the hammock too. We had a
good time. They stayed to supper and afterward we sat out there till
it began to rain & then went up on to the piazza with cushions
and chairs. "Prinnie" came over. Had a nice talk and agreed
to meet
Ned tomorrow at Lilla's. Saw the girls on the car about nine. Then wrote,
etc.
July 16. Sunday.
It was a magnificent morning, but I was very sleepy. Did not go to
church - sat by the dining room window and read
1893.
