with my leafy hat on - reading "Mamma's" letter - to use up a plate left over in a holder. Went to Buckhecker's & the bakery, & at night with Ned to get soda at Haas' & embroidery at Carroll's. She had her hair done up another way. Took Page's their photographs (90¢) and spent the evening at my desk. Aug. 31. Thursday Another lovely clear day. Took a lot of blue prints. Klem went to the with her friend Bess Campbell from N.Y. Ned came up once or twice also W.H.O. This evening Ned, Freddy & Edith came up and we had a real jolly time - up in my room awhile looking at old photos. Trying on hats etc. & then came down and play- ed anagrams until nearly 10:30 with Papa & Mama - Papa just got home. Went to the car with the girls - all of us very hilarious - and such a cool night! Sept. 1. Friday Another bright - an uneventful - day. Stopped for Ned at noon and she walked part way up with me, and at night invited me down to tea, but I didn't go. We shopped etc. In the evening I
