Dansville to spend Sunday. We went down to the beach with them and they invited us over etc. but we declined to postpone that pleasure & go fishing. Mr. Willard took Ned & me - I rowed & Ned trolled & Mr. W. cast flies. It was a gorgeous night - indescribably brilliant & lovely - & they managed to just get strikes & catches often enough to make it in- teresting - a pike and four bass - tho' Mr. W. threw back a couple of Helen's bass when he dressed
them hinking them too small - but the others were big enough to make a hearty meal for six of us. We heard the Dansville Mandolin going around the lake on the streamer and various banjoes - mandolins & voices ("After the ball" - "From Aunt Dinah's Quilting party" &c) all over the lake. Lights began to go out long before Mr. W. tho't it time to return & by the time we had been home & had a glass of cider &c &
