Hemlock
We saw him standing on the beach & his cottage "Innisfail". Mate & Mr. Willard were on the pier to meet us and the stone steps and pretty cottage & seats & walks were everything that might have been expected. While we got settled & visited a little and examined Charles - who has grown a good deal & has lovely curls and is very sweet & smiling. Mr. W. went for a swim - and when he came out we ate din- ner - about two - and ate prodigeously! Changed our waists & got washed and then "all us women" & the baby had a row down the lake as far as the cottage below the big rock & up nearly to Fisher's. There are a good many new cottages and the beautiful hills are as lovely as ever - or more so. After we got back some company came to call and Ned & I walked up the beautiful gorge a little way & sat on damp tree trunks & had a long talk - meanwhile watching centi- pedes and lovely foliage above around us.
