Dinner came in the midst & the afternoon was spent in watching the lake & sky & fire & playing Anagrams & "visiting" & enter- taining Miss Theo Manning who called. At five o'clock we decided the steamer wasn't coming & Maurine

"knocked us up" a supper (as she says) hot rolls - tea - sauce - fresh sponge cake & "milk-a-la") and by the stroke of six we were all loaded in Merrines
' big boat & had bidden 'em good- bye & were pushing off - and such a magnificent 4 mile row as Mama and I - in
